Loose Dentures - Denture Stabilisation
Dentures are a common solution for patients who have lost all or most of their teeth, or whose teeth are in such a bad condition they need to be removed. However, traditional dentures are prone to problems including slippage, affecting your sense of taste by covering the top of your mouth, and causing issues with biting or chewing certain food such as apples or nuts, which can lead to a restricted diet.
Over time, your gums and jaw bone can also shrink back beneath your dentures, causing them to become loose and uncomfortable. A popular solution is to use permanent or implant-retained dentures, which use a small number of mini dental implants to hold your dentures in place, removing the possibility of them slipping and enabling you to eat a full range of foods without fear.
Permanent dentures use mini implants, which are similar to standard dental implants but are smaller. They are also sometimes known as denture implants. Dr Osman uses gentle, non-surgical and minimally invasive techniques to fit the implants, which can in most cases be carried out in just one visit, using local anaesthetic or mild sedation if necessary.
- No danger of embarrassing denture slippage
- Ability to bite, chew and taste a full range of foods
- Prevents gum shrinkage and bone loss
- Dentures will not become loose
- No more denture adhesives
- No more sore spots from ill-fitting dentures rubbing your gums
- Fast procedure that can often be carried out in one appointment

Dental implants are permanent solutions for missing teeth. Implants act like the roots of your natural teeth, being placed directly into your jaw bone and acting as support for replacement teeth in the shape of crowns, bridges or fixed dentures.
At The Park Dental Clinic our implants are placed by Dr Moss Osman, who has Master's degree and Post graduate Diploma with15 years of experience fitting dental implants. He has treated more than 1,000 implant patients in that time with high success rate (98%) over 15 years.
We offer many dental implant solutions for patients in Derby and beyond. One of the fastest and most popular forms of dental implant is mini implants, which can be used for patients who have previously been told they aren't suitable for standard dental implants because they have suffered bone loss, a common complication of missing teeth and a good reason to choose dental implants over other missing tooth solutions, because the implants integrate with the jaw bone and prevent further bone deterioration.
Mini implants are used to secure permanent dentures. In most cases mini implants can be placed in one visit to the practice, and your appointment will last about an hour. Under local anesthetic or mild sedation, implants are carefully positioned in the jaw bone using minimally invasive techniques. The head of the implant protrudes from the gum and fixed dentures can be securely attached.
Mini implants are particularly good for fixed dentures, eliminating problems with denture slippage, difficulty in biting and chewing certain foods, and problems with speech.
If you have loose or ill-fitting dentures, your ability to eat and speak may become affected. Due to advances in dentistry, there is now a procedure whereby your denture can be fixed to your jaw with dental implants. This treatment, known as implant overdentures or denture stabilisation, offers patients with dentures a more permanent solution and can improve your quality of life significantly. You will be able to enjoy your favourite foods again and feel comfortable smiling, safe in the knowledge that your dentures are staying put.
