How it works<\/strong><\/p>\n The \u201cIV\u201d in IV sedation stands for intravenous. That means that sedative drugs are delivered by a small needle in the back of your hand or in your arm. Unlike a general anaesthetic used for major procedures in a hospital, with IV\/conscious sedation you will remain awake and able to co-operate with your dentist during treatment.
